Service intervals past 25k
Pics are good :-)
Removed the bags, remove the seat, remove the side cover, remove the fuel pump curcit fuse. Start the bike let it run out of fuel (takes less than a minute). After it stops crank it over a few times.
Remove the gas tank cover ( One Allen screw top, one bolt bottom near seat. Remove gas cap lift off the cover, then replace cap. Unplug elector connector and hose, lay cover asside.
Be careful dont scratch the tank!! Take a drift and hammer Tap the Cam Ring alternate tabs until its off (takes a few good wacks, dont be scared)
Pull up on the filler assy until it clears the tank. You have to turn in counter clock wise a little then pull up until the filter assy can be reached.
I did not pull it all the way out, I just pulled the clip changed the filter and O ring put it right back in and reassembled.
I did not drain the tank, I had less than 1/4 tank fuel.
Done!
Seriously, my 2009 manual goes to 25k, the 2010 manual goes to 50k. The 2009 manual has footnotes indicating that you need to replace the fork oil at 50k, and disassemble, inspect, and lubricate the steering head bearings at 50k as well.
DO NOT start over at 5k when you reach 30k. If you do, you'll run your primary and transmission oils an extra 5k, among other things.
Here's the easiest way to do it. Always do everything specified for 5k. At 10k intervals, change primary oil, lube head bearings, inspect windshield bushings, tighten critical fasteners, at 20k intervals, 20, 40, 60 .... change transmission oil and spark plugs. At 25k intervals, 25k, 50k, 75k change fuel filter. At 50k, 100k, 150k change fork oil and do the disassemble, inspect, and lube on the head bearings. Every two calendar years, regardless of mileage, change the brake fluid. Every rear tire change inspect compensator sprocket. If you don't ride 5k miles a year make sure that at least annually you inspect oil lines and brake system, fuel lines, battery connections, and exhaust system.
