In my owners manual it didn't really give a break down on the three positions. I figured out OFF on my own . I do not have head sets to test out which did which so I thought I would toss the question out here. Before I even typed the thread I opened up the manual and didn't get the answer I was looking for so I turned to all the fine folks here on the forum...

Well now I know my answer for my 98 model. Never got a manual with it. Have daughter on with me lots and according to previous owner she is meant to be able to control stereo from rear. Seems her switches mute and thats it.
