NEVER heard of this! Did you paint just the cylinders or the whole thing the first time? Why and with what? Harley makes an engine paint in wrinkle black......is that what you used?

Sumax can powder coat your engine you can look them up on the web think they can do a lot of colors the machine shop I used for head work spoke highly of them but it probably is not cheep but I would think powder paint is the best.

You really need an oven to powdercoat properly, which means taking everything to be coated apart. There is some stuff out on the market that you can take short cuts wuth, but I haven't heard anything good about it. Powder coat also retains more heat than the stock "heat" paint.

Its mostly on the heads, left side only around the plugs, I special ordered a pint of harley engine paint, that I brushed on and it lasted about 4 months.... maybe in a few years I'll just powdercoat and diamond mill them..

Ive actually heard of people using the high temp paint for a gas grill. Sounds silly I know, but I know of a guy that did it and it lasted 2 seasons that I know of, Havent seen the guy in a couple of years so I cant tell you how well it held up after 2 years.

I'd imagine if you used something other than the HD paint, you'd have to do the whole engine or it would look pretty shabby. As a suggestion, next time you need to paint it, maybe a light media blasting to prepare the surfaces and have O'Reilly's put the HD paint in a spray can. They can do this! No guarantees, but it might just work.
