I agree .... the Wing is an awesome ride ..... and it's own breed.
I undertstand why folks buy and ride the other met's.
Heck .... I was really eyeballing the Vulcan 2000.
But if buying only one big V-Twin ...... 'for me' it's gotta be an FLH .... I just couldn't let go of the "wanna-be" thing.
Call it a flaw in my charactor if you like, but the "knock-off factor" would have always bugged me.
But ...... if I had the coin ........ I'd would have all three ....... and a bag for when riding the Vulcan.
Exactly! A fellow pilot/A&P buddy of mine picked up a really clean Vulcan 2000 and man that thing is a beast. Impressive machine. I seriously considered one, but then, like you, the "wanna be poser" aspect would always haunt me. The wing is an amazing machine and always has been. Once I sat on one, and felt my ankles bend back with my feet straight under my ***, I knew immediately it was not for me. I'd be one squirming, twitchy, uncomfortable dude mere blocks out of the driveway. It also always bugs me how I can ride up next to a wing, and can't hear the damn thing. The things are stealthy, that's for sure.
I just left 2006 Goldwing for 2010 Ultra and both are great bikes. I miss the water cooling and sometimes reverse but the Harley has so much character. I wish I had room for both.
