New '07 FLHT.
Put a few miles on it last night and runs pretty good, but definitly will be shopping for slip ons this weekend. Kinda sounds like a VW. I did notice that the rear head pipe was glowing red at the flange, is this normal? Also, fifth gear is more noisy like I have read in other posts, no bid deal it's under warranty.
I now sound is in the "ear of the beholder" do any of you have thoughts on the rolling thunder, vance and hines classics or the rush slip ons? These all seem to be in the same price range. I also looked into the D&D and Wild Pigs. I want the Harley sound but also want to hear the radio when I get it installed.
I really thought I would miss my WG but this is pretty darn cool...
Keep on the dealer about the tranny noise, get documentation every time....Like you, I've read too many posts about it. It really does sound like The MoCo had a production problem with them. And unless you push them, they will ignore you. Sorta like when the base gaskets started leaking on the EVO's. At least Harley changed to a 2 year/unlimited mile warranty. In 93 it was 12 mons/unlimited miles.
I just put my old Samson Rolled Thunders on my 07 and I can hear the radio at highway speeds up to 80 at least. Also that was a great reference to the engine sounding like a VW , I'm guessing VW Beetle and I'm with you!
I just put 'em on , no tuning. I ran my Road King for over a year without tuning and I don't see why I need to do this one. I have a PC3 waiting in the shed for an air cleaner set up. I'm waiting to see if HD comes out with one soon.
I'll bet they say it is normal. Mine does the same thing. As a matter of fact so does the front. You don't need those lights that reflect off your chrome. Harley has made them standard equipment now. Ain't it cool. No pun intended. http://bobbyhill.home.att.net
