I curse this forum. Was on the fence with this, but after seeing the pics, purchased the BAL 2. I'll post pics after it's installed so some other lucky contestant can get off the fence, and curse me as well.
This thread keeps popping up so I feel I need to drop my 2 cents.
You are not comparing apples to apples here. Yes, there is a big difference between the incandesent bulb and the BAL, but the "l.e.d." push in is not a fair candidate for this test. Those push in l.e.d. "bulbs" are never bright. I have the Radiantz l.e.d. tail light which has 136 l.e.d.'s and only costs $124. If you call or email them, they will give you a 15% forum discount too. It's bright as hell when you get on the brakes and HALF the cost of your BAL.
So, if you want to do a real comparison, at least compare real aftermarket replacements, not those $15 push in auto part lights.
I've had the light since Christmas and you can't believe the comments I get about when riding. Mostly positive, but some think it's too bright! Anyway, my question is, has anyone used the BAL with the HD run, turn, stop auxiliary light kit on their bike? I was going to purchase one at the dealer, but the parts guy said they wouldn't work with the BAL. Checked the BAL website, it says they are compatable. Called BAL and talked with a human there and he said they'd used it and never had an issue. They evidently did have an issue with an aftermarket module and the BAL but that was the only one. So, I bought the kit today, will install it tonight or tomorrow night and let everyone know after I do whether it works or not.

I know there are other bright LED units available. I thought I'd just through in a comparison of the LED I had. I wasn't happy with the brightness.
I thing the one thing that separates the BAL from all the other LED units is the ability to program it. I was surprised how many different patterns there are.

The thread isn't a Consumer Report-type survey of all available tail light products. Steve posted pics of three varieties of tail light products and never represented it as anything else.
It'd be helpful if you took a picture comparison of the Radiantz product on your bike to the stock HD tail/brake light and/or with a BAL tail light if you have a buddy or know someone with one. Ditto for someone who has the Ride Time Technology product.
Just want to add my .02 cents. The BAL 1 was the first thing that I put on my bike when I bought it in April. I definitely notice a difference in peoples reaction when they are coming behind me at a stop light. Here where we have our share of foggy nights and days, I feel a whole lot safer both with the tail light and the brake light brightness. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
