One of mine went out after two years, thought I was gonna be stranded out of state in the middle of no where. Had my spare key fob up in the hotel room, started right up. Bought some the next day.
I guess I should read the book and figure haw to use the over ride.

For those following, if you look up the override code in your manual, make sure you are looking at the sequence to ENABLE the override, and not the (separate page) on how to CHANGE the override code.

Was pulling my hair out until I realized I was reading the wrong page.

I changed mine after two years. Didn't want to take a chance with a dead fob battery on the road.

After I got the fob working, I used did it again, & the code showed up on the odometer like it should. I'm just happy it did it at home & not out on the road.
The code only appears when the fob is present (and in good working order) otherwise a thief could just read the code. You need to memorize it or have it written down. It will work without the fob.

The battery in my FOB is at least 2.5 years old (I picked up the 2008 RG in Jan. 2008) and it is still going strong. For FLTR08, I have always had my FOB hanging my left side with the other bike keys with no problems.
