Took off for a trip to central Michigan on Monday. Bike ran fine and idled like it usually does. On Thursday night fueled up at a shell and rode to Holland where it ran fine til i shut it off. Since, it wants to die at idle and has a hesitation when taking off. I've added Seafoam to the gass and it seemed to help for a bit then went right back to hesitating and not wanting to idle. 7 hour trip home at 70 to 80 mph and still no better even adding new gas. Could this be caused by bad gas or maybe the fuel fiter needs changed. You can see by my sig it's an 01 Ultra with 27000 miles and the MM injection system. Any ideas?
Thanks, that's this mornings project. Sprayed carb cleaner around intake and no leaks. Just started doing it after sitting in a parking lot for a couple of hours. I'm going to shoot some Seafoam down the intake and clean air filter and see what happens.
I would start with simple solutions first. As stated before, clean the throttle body, and the IAC valve.
You also might want to Sync the ECM by disconnecting the battery for about 30 min. Then Reconnect the battery. Turn handlebar run switch to ON. Turn key ON for 5 sec., then OFF. Repeat ON/ OFF sequence a second time. Sometimes the ECM forgets what it should do.
Cleaned intake and AIC with SeaFoam sprayed in the intake while running and then shut it off and sprayed AIC with it. It will try to idle for a few seconds then drop down to 750 rpm's then eventually die. Starts right back up and goes down road fine, so i'll take it my indie and have hime check Temp sensors as that is a good possibility since they are all original. Thanks everyone for you input, It really does help.
