Default Hard clutch lever RKC

I just bought an 03' RKC with 13k miles and the clutch lever seems really hard to pull. Clutch reacts smooth and as expected. I rode a friends 07' SG and the lever pull was MUCH easier. While thumbing thru my HD catalog this am I noticed that they sell a cam dealy that makes the clutch pull easier. Is this normal or should I be looking for a different issue? If I need to get the kit I will...Thanks, Larry

In 07 (or earlier, I'm not sure) Harley went to an easier pull clutch. Makes a noticeable difference.

I put in a Easy Pull clutch kit in my 01 RK and had to clearance the housing for the additional length in the arm. Not too difficult, I used a die grinder with a carbide bit. Sure makes a difference in heavy traffic.

I put reduced reach clutch lever and break lever on my 07' rkc. I don't know if this helps you or not?

You may want to lube the cable first.

Previous owner may have installed a heavier clutch spring. I just put a Barnett spring in mine, and it's a tough pull compared to stock.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the previous owner MAY have installed a heavier spring. I don't know why someone would...The bars have been changed out to wide beach style bars so the cables have been changed. I don't believe that is where the restriction is coming from. I'm planning a swap to some 12.5"-14" bars which will include new cables as well, eliminating that as a possibility. I thought I read somewhere that the 07's had a different clutch pull? Anyway, if the kit will help me I'll do it, I just wanted to hear that someone else felt the same thing and it helped them.

I have been thinking about the reduced effort clutch kit for quite a while and for the money don't know why I keep putting it off.

i just had a 103 kit installed and it came with the heavier clutch spring, probably very similar to the stock spring i your bike. prior to the build the clutch pulled much easier, but the heavier spring was required to provide better clutch engagement with the bigger motor. in 07 i think is when harley went to an easy pull clutch setup. that easy pull clutch spring can be easily retrofitted to your bike.
