I am not sure that the fuelpak can be setup for stock exhaust. I called the company up a year ago to get a setting for V&H mufflers with stock air cleaner and they said they did not have a program for that and it would run too rich. I ended up putting on the SE A/C. Might call them first to check. However, my fuelpak works great with my muffler/SE AC setup.
You were running stock air cleaner with slip ons, which is why they told you it would be too rich. A high flow air cleaner and stock exhaust would be a different story.
I read the "partial stage I" with stock exhaust to mean stage I air cleaner and some means of adding more fuel. (ECM download or fuel adder such as fuelpak or power commander) Maybe I was reading too much into the post.
Having said that, if the OP wanted to run a stage I air cleaner and stock exhaust, he could run a fuel pak set up for generic slip ons. V&H has added quite a few maps lately, and I'd think this one would get him pretty close:
Don't know if you need the PC5 on your 07. A PClll and cutting out the O2 sensors will do. Fuelmoto has a nice air cleaner, chrome if you want, and the PClll is relativelt cheap and will be set up when received. FM will also send you the plugs for the O2.
Thanks guys! All I'm looking for is to make my engine run a little cooler. I'm fine with it's performance, I just don't want to "hurt" it by running it too lean, so, are you really saying I don't "need" to do anything to it?
I ran a fuelpak last summer, and my bike loved it. The fuelpak doesn't get much love on this forum, mostly because you can't dyno tune it, the support for different cams is minimal, and there's no provision for timing changes. However, for most stage I bikes, it works just fine. When I swapped cams in my bike, I changed out to a PCV with autotune this summer, and had all kinds of trouble getting the autotune to work properly. I finally had to change exhaust, which I wasn't planning on doing, and didn't budget for. I also found out that the support for different cams for my bike was as minimal as it was with the fuelpak, so I had a pretty lousy experience changing over to the Power Commander.
For the 07 RK's, you can frequently find used fuelpaks for sale in the classifieds. You can expect to spend about 100-125 bucks if you can snag one off the classifieds. They bring a little more on ebay.
+1 with OldPhat,I've been running the Xied's and love them. Haven't checked fuel mileage cause I bought a Harley. I do know my pipes are blackened and a buddy of mine with a stock 09 EG gets worst mileage than I do. I filled up some miles before him and he had used quarter tank more gas after our trip. Just have A/C and D&D mufflers. If you have a newer bike just make sure the EITMS is engaged.
