The Road King is a fine bike. I had one and loved it. I also have a 2010 Ultra Limited that replaced my 2009 Ultra. The handling of the new bike is significantly better than the old one. So, before making the leap, you should ride both and see what you like. I didn't feel the difference on the new bike until I took it into some twisties near my home. The new frame handles very well and is a breeze to use.
Where along the lines did the Road King become the little brother to the Ultra? Maybe its all attached to the price tag or something? If you enjoy riding the Road King more than the Ultra, then go for it. Personally i don't notice much difference in ride, comfort, etc between the two.
had an 07 ultra and then went to an 09. i had put an additional stabalizer on the 07. the 09 is most definitely more stable, without a doubt.
the change in the frame in 09, along with the additional stabilizers and the large tires on the 09 all make a huge diff.
the seat on the 09, however, is higher (by an inch or more) and wider than that of the 07. because you are sitting higher, it might fell less stable.
HD offered the seat the had on some 10's which is lower and narrower. this allowed a more solid stance when stopped. and also a lower center of gravity.
but i do like that road king.
i would say just make sure you compare like years.
Went from an Ultra to a Heritage and I guess it depends on the type of riding you are going to be doing. I didn't feel the need for all the extra "stuff."
Well C50plus, I blamed you for it. I just traded my 08 UC for a 2010 RK Redhot Sunglo, ABS, Security and cruise. I couldn't believe the deal I got. I started calling Dealers right after reading your post. I couldn't find an 09 with ABS or the color I wanted. I found a 2010 at one Dealer, but he wanted 3500.00 plus my bike. Then I checked with Ghost Town HD in Waynesville NC. He had the one I want and only ask 1925.00 out the door. I put a deposit on it and picking it up Thursday. See what reading this forum is costing me..LMAO
Before you do anything test drive a ROAD GLIDE... the one bike i would trade mine for...
but my dad had an 08 Police King 'ULTRA', and loved it! he regrets having to sell it... I drove it a couple time and it was the best smoothest thing ive ever rode.. Im starting to like the king's and if i had one i would get a police model and put some 16'' Gangster apes like this bike
