Default Does Quick Release = Quickly Stolen?

I have a quick release windshield, sissybar & bags... how long before someone else quickly steals them? Anyone ever have a problem with this?

I bought the lock for my sissybar. No worrying.

I got it all (windshield, sissy bar, and bags) haven't had any issues yet. I always work under the assumption that if someone really wants it a 10 cent lock ain't going to stop them. I have stopped overnight at hotels in DC, on the BRP and in TN. I guess you have two options 1) lock everything and be paranoid 2) trust in the good faith in others, enjoy the ride, and have good insurance. I bet you can't guess what I chose.

On all the quick release items (currently only the tour-pak) I have had over the years, I always had the lock on one side. These locks cost more than 10 cents, but they are a measure that will cause a thief to go to a bike that has no locks at all.

I wouldn't worry. In my mind, a lot thiefs are afraid of messing with bikes, and for good reason, most of us wound't hesitate to protect our property.

I'm sure there are bike savy scum out there that target bikers, but really, how much are you gonna get for a used windshield? I would think they would just throw the whole bike in the back of a trailer and take off.

I'll take my Zumo off when I stop for the night, or if I'm gonna be away for a while, everything else I don't worry about.

Like Bluff Bob, I'll pull my GPS or XM off, but I don't worry about my backrest or luggage rack. I will lock saddle bags. I previously had a Fatboy that had a detach windshield, backrest and luggage rack and never had any issues w/that on road trips. Only on one occassion did I ever pull them off and take them into the hotel room w/me and that was in a Motel 6 in Greensboro, NC, that a buddy and I pulled into. There were literally crack ho's next door workin' all night long. If we'd have had our wives w/us, we probably wouldn't have stayed there. But, for us it was cheap and we figured we wouldn't get messed with.
