Default Lighting Question

I know many of you might say this is overkill, but I like lights. My question is I purchased auxiliary light forward kit for my street glide, and I purchased fog lamps that attach to the crash bar is this to many extra electrical accessories that the charging system cant handle.....just want to make sure I am not over taxing the battery.

Won't hurt a thing, But they will run your battery down quicker if you happen to leave them on after you hit the kill switch and forget to turn your ignition switch off....ask me how i know..LMAO

Might be fine, depending on wattage. What's the total wattage? I wouldn't try to run them through the stcok harness. They need to be wired via a relay and I wouldn't run all of them unless I was moving.

You can check things using a multimeter at the battery, to see how the voltage holds up (or doesn't!) with the different lights off and on, engine running etc. That will let you know for example what you can run while the engine is at tick-over and at what engine speed things balance out. Optimum charge you want to see at the battery is around 14.5 volts.

???Street Glides do not have the Aux Lights he is referring to, other Touring bikes do, same harness, same electrical system. The HD Fog lights are designed to be used on Touring bikes, regardless if they have aux lights or not. Obviously I do not think anyone would run them with the engine off, but maybe nothing is obvious....The HD Aux lights coupled with the HD fog lights, installed per the directions will be fine on any late model Touring Chassis. If you want you can add up the wattage and compare it against the load recommendations in the manual, but adding 4 lights to a system with a single headlight is ok...been there done that.

Thats what I figured. Now the next problem is installing the aux lights. The directions are the most detailed. I think I can use the aux switch already in place. The directions are telling me to partially disable the igntion and pull that plate off to access the switches. I thought that is what the aux switch was there for ......??????

I got to my aux. switch wires by pulling the outer fairing off and looking at the bike from the front, the wires come out in a harness on the left side of the radio. It's been awhile but I believe the wires I needed were orange, maybe with a stripe on it. A test light and turning the switch on and off will help you find it.

Didn't catch the "Street Glide" part. Yes, this will work but you won't be able to run the headlight, passing lights and fog lights at the same time - legally. I have a similar set up, except my "fog lights" are from Walmart. In Illinois we can only have a max of 4 "headlights/fog lights". My Walmart lights are so bright, they cancel the passing lights anyway, so I turn them off. I would still recommend relay's.
