Previous owner on my glide purchased and had installed the HD version of the Garmin Quest. He kept the GPS unit but the mount reamains on the bike. I am now in the market fora GPS unit and would like to use the existing bracket. Does anyone know if the Garmin Quest II will fit into the same bracket? Does the GPS just plug in or is there another bracket that attaches to the GPS unit (if so I didn't get it with the bike? I like the bracket, clean installation and good location, but not real inpressed with HD quest. Here's a picture of the mount.
There is another bracket that the GPS fits in and then it goes on the mount on the bike but I think it comes with the bike mount and you have to buy another mount to use in car.

You can purchase a Garmin Qwest or Qwest 2. Additionaly you will need what I believe Harley calls the "Hot Shoe" I am currently in Kuwait on my way back from Iraq I can get you that part # once I get home in a couple days.
Thhe QUEST II is what I have and the only thing I do not like is the processor is slow. Otherwise I'm very please. I have it mounted in the OEM bracket using the OEM cradle.
If you do not have the cradle you'll need to buy it from the dealer. Both the Quest and Quest II use the same cradle and bracket. If you also buy the HD carring case the Quest II and cradle will fit as a unit.
Check eBay for the Quest II. I got mine there for $500

If you call Garmin, Order the "Sub-Assy, Harley Davidson Mnt Item Number 011-00284-00
That is the Info on the invoice that I recieved from Garmin last week when they sent me the replacement for a broken one I had. Great company, they replaced it free of charge with just a simple phone call.
It will handle the Quest, or the Quest2 I don't know about any other units.
I already owned the Quest. It is the same unit as the Quest II, except it does not come already loaded with the detailed maps. You just get the software with it and load the routes you are riding.
I had the harley bracket and mount installed--fits perfect.
