Default Gas Leak with full tank

I have a 2010 Ultra Classic and twice I have filled my gas tank after a day of riding. I pull in the garage and after a bit gas is spilling out onto the floor. I'm guessing it is overflow due to the hot engine, but none of my other bikes have ever done this. Anyone have an explanation???

Don't fill it up and park it. When leaning on the jiffy stand with the expansion it will come out the overflow

My '07 SG will do this when I try to fill it too full before I stop and park it.

My 99 RKC does the same thing.

As said above, don't fill up completely when it is hot out. Fuel needs "breathing" space. I had a buddy with a Honda VT1300 (California Model), the bike leaking during fuel expansion wreaked havoc on his charcoal canister... I have a Cali Model UC, I take care not to overfill for that reason.

The bike is just marking it's territory.

Good dog.

Do not fill it to the top of the neck while the bike is standing straight up. Leave it on the kickstand and fill it. If you hold the bike standing and fill it to the neck then it will leak. I made this mistake once. I have a two story house and the garage is directly under my bedroom and it stunk like gas for days.

Gas is usually stored underground, where it is cool. When you fill your tank it is warmed up, partly by engine heat, perhaps the sun as well and expands. Race cars chill the fuel to get more in the tanks immediately before a race, but we don't need to do that!

Why would you fill it before parking it? its not a fire truck awaiting the call to go! You need to leave room for expansion.
