Relli,
Did you look at that connector yet? Mine baffled me for months!
I even went so far as to to get a new voltage regulator 7 months ago and still had the problem until I found this connector bad!
Your complaining about some simple fixes!!
Then check this connector! Takes five minutes.
Take it apart, spray it out with some contact cleaner and plug it back together! See if anything happens!
Otherwise, the hell with you...
Damn dude, why so serious? You are really taking somebody else's problem too personal...relax!
You mean you don't have your laptop in the garage with the bike working on it while people are typing in suggestions? Man we are all just waiting here clicking refresh to see what happens...
Hope one of the easy fix suggestions work out for you....

Ok, so he was either joking around or this issue kicked his a$$ so bad he just doesn't want another bike to win the same battle. Either way, not a big deal, at least he is trying to help.
my reason for suggesting the voltage regulator is the samething happen to me it came unpluged. that was the first thing i checked and that was my problem sometimes those clip fastners come unclipped. so like i said this was my problem good luck.
Ill be checking all this out in a while. IF the stator needds to be replaced arent there a couple of (inner and outer) chain tensioning shoes that should be replaced while theyre in there??? dont these have to come off to get to the stator??
HOLY CRAP BATMAN!!!!!!!! just talked to HD and they want a grand if its the stator / regulator. cant afford that . guess ill HAVE to figure this one out myuself
It seems that around the 2007 model year there was a service bulletin for some of the voltage regulators...being erratic...Just a thought.
thanks ill chk that. went over all connections today-found nuthin. will check derby cvr for smell also. am i right in thinkin that the worst case scenario im facing is the stator/reg????

I took my bike to the dealer over the weekend for this exact issue. The service writer said they would check it out, but was fairly certain it was the stator going bad. I was still within 2 weeks of my factory warranty, so better now than later for me. Good luck!
