Default almost left me stranded!!!!!!!!!!!

so i was to meet a friend of mine about 15-20 miles away. i take off from home on a cold bike, make it to my friends about 20 minutes later. we decided where to go and that we would stop at the gas station to top off tanks. i pull in and top off my tank, talk to another friend who also got gas and got a cold drink. we then got on the bikes and my buddy's statrs his and takes off to the stop sign.i turn on mine ( wait for the little engine light to go off) and then it happened!!! all it did was crank and crank and crank... and so on. i let it set for about 15-20 minutes and just when my buddy was on his bike and heading to his house to get the truck and trailer i tried it one last time and it fired right up and ran perfect all day long. my issue is it has done it before several times and left me settin til it cools off...but it wasnt even hot.WTF!!! any ideas... anybody else have this happen? thanks for all input guys.

Several posts on here discuss bikes with tuners, do not wait to hit start once bike is warm. Turn on switch, crank her over.

Sure it could. It could also be a coil goin' open when it's hot. Got spark?
