2010 FLHTK vs. 2007 FLHTCUI
My 2007 UC is a great bike except for the 5th gear whine and the excessive ticking in 5th (mine anyway). Instead of fixing the 2007 to eliminate these problems (about $700 in parts and a couple hundred in labor as I understand), I bit the bullet and bought the 2010 UC Limited.
To me, the rides of these two bikes are very similar but the changes that Harley made to the belt/pulley/compensator/whatever, etc. make a huge difference in driveability compared to the stock 2007 UC - greatly improved. Haven't really noticed much of a difference with the drive by wire compared to the old throttle cable. The wider rear tire and the stiffer frame are noticeable but just barely - to me anyway. The 103 ci motor does seem to have a little more power.
One significant thing I noticed about the Limited that is different from my 2007 is that the stock exhausts are MUCH hotter on the Limited. I could barely keep my right foot on the stock foot rest. Having said that, my 2007 UC had Rinehart slip-ons. I'm guessing that those made the exhausts cooler. Has anyone else who has ridden an FLHTK noticed abnormally hot exhausts? If so, what have you done to reduce the heat, if anything?
Secondly, my 2007 oil pressure seemed to always run in the 25-35 range (according to the oil pressure gauge anway). On my new Limited, the oil pressure gauge shows around 5 lbs of pressure at idle and moves up quickly during acceleration and levels off around 32 or so. Is anyone else experiencing that on the FLHTK? It seems logical that the pressure would increase as the rpms increase but is such a low oil pressure normal or do I have a problem with my oil pressure?
Lastly, I plan to put Rinehart True Duals on the FLHTK. If anyone has done that, I'd like to know if the exhausts seem to cool down a bit.
Thanks,

My oil pressure is exactly what you describe.......my fatboy didn't have a pressure gauge so I didn't have anything to compare it with.......but like I've always heard......it doesn't need a lot of pressure....just some......
I did not notice much difference in performance with the stock 103 as compared to the 96 Deluxe and steet glide I once owned. Both the street glide and and as I said my Limited underwent motor work. I'm assuming they both ended up running cooler than before, but I can not verify it as I have never used an oil temp gauge. All I can tell you is that right now my Stage III Limited since the motor work is running in the 30-33mpg range. Still seems to throw some heat!! It is going in for dyno after 1000 miles or so on the new motor work. Sure runs better than stock now. It's my understanding that cooling down the motor would probably require some fuel management work like power commander and as well as the exhaust work you're contemplating.
