Default New pipe, New problem

Well I get a call yesterday from my friend who is a service manager at the local HD stealership and he says hey I found you a D&D fat cat with 3000 miles on it in black for 450.00. I make sure it is for an 09 street glide which he says it is. I tell him I dont have my truck today (my wife was using it) so he says just ride your bike and we will install it for 37.50 1/2 hr labor. I say ok and head on over get the pipe installed and ride home (smiling the whole way I might add from the sound) once home I park the bike. Last night about 11pm a friend calls and says hey lets go for a ride I say ok and off we go for about a 1 to 1 1/2 hr ride and I park the bike back in the garage. I wake up this morning and me and the OL were gonna go ride I pull the bike out of the garage and notice a oil puddle where my bike was parked. I investigate and realize it appears to be coming from the tranny on the right/pipe side of the bike under where the tranny cover i believe (says six speed) is located. I call my friend today HD service manager bhe says they will pick it up tuesday and take care of it as the bike is still under warranty. Its just aggravating that I cant ride my bike with the new pipe. Oh well I need to get it tuned anyways.
Any thoughts on what the leak might be?

Well installed my own on my '07. Same tranny but the pipe is a little different. If it's like mine and I'll bet it is....Two of the bolts holding the tranny's right side together must be removed to install the new mount at the tranny position. These aren't the bolts for the chrome cover, they are the larger 5/16 socket heads visable outboard of your chrome cover. Those socket head cap screws (allen bolts) must be retorqued after installing the new bracket or a leak is probable. I used a cut off 1/4 inch allen wrench on mine since clearance is a little tight. I personally think 1/2 hour labor is cheap for that job, even if you've done a few. That's probably why the installer forgot to tighten the bolts. I always run a bike until it's hot after installing pipes, let it cool awhile and re torque the flange nuts and all the rest of the exhaust fasteners. Takes time to do the job right.

there's a hanger bracket that holds the exhaust in place that bolts to the transmission. that's where the oil leak is coming from. it's an easy fix.

I just checked D&D website and for the 09-newer models it just says mount header on top of stock tranny mount. So im unsure of what bracket you guys are talking about seeing as I bought the pipe used. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The holes in the mounting bracket are a little oblong if I remember. The tech probably had to loosen them to adjust the bracket so everything lined up and then forgot to tighten them. That is surely where the leak is coming from

Even if the new Boss Fat Cat uses the stock tranny bracket it would need to be loosened to properly install the pipe. The bracket has some slop for adjustment and should be loose as you install the pipe, then tightened when it's properly aligned. Just check those bolt and tighten as necessary and all tranny fluid and see if the leak stops.

You guys were correct about the 2 bolts being loose. I appreciate the help and now I gotta go buy a cut-off wheel to cut the allen wrench
