I say fix it just exactly the way YOU want it. There is no right or wrong way............. BTW, it looks really good just the way it is right now!

Lastly, you likely already know this, but the Harley parts are powder coated, not painted, so if you plan to go this route you might consider just having your stock parts powder coated, making this project far less costly. Shame on me for learning this after I bought the parts.

Looks awesome!! I want to get the black ape hangers as well. Thanks for posting pics....my poor wallet

I'll tell you something...

Be careful. It's a slippery slope. I started with some black like you see in my sig pic. Now I have OCD about finishing the job. Just had 45 pieces powdered last week. Looks good, but there are still 7 pieces of chrome left on the bike. Once those are black, the bolt heads are gonna start pissin' me off.

If you go black, prepare to never be satisfied.

Now that's pretty funny! Bike looks great though!

I've blacked out several parts to my bike, including the front end. I personally like to leave a little chrome in places though, but then I like the contract look.

Here's a pic of it a few years ago. I guess I need to update some photos, because I have the engine guard blacked out also. I left the headlight trim lamp ring, and the upper fork cover in chrome because I liked the look. I have the engine guard lights, but I'm debating if I want to try and get them powdercoated before attaching them.

I feel your pain pal. Mine started as a bone stock Blue Denim and did the front end in black as a start. A few months later and all I have left is the rocker covers, Tappet blocks and pushrod covers. I even have them done already but not installed yet. Originally I was going to paint it black too but saw a few Pewter Denim's on here and liked the contrast. Plus, my buddy's is Black Denim anyway. It's a sickness, I tell ya. Lookin for a set of wagon wheels to finish it off. All Black, of course...

I agree with the majority, blacking everything out is the way to go. I have an '04 Lowrider that I chromed out, but I'm def going this direction vice chrome on my '11 RG once it gets here. Did the majority of you buy HD powdercoated items or powder the stock parts?

I sent all my parts out to be coated. May be cheaper in the long run to buy HD and then sell the old parts but too much work in my eyes. Plus, HD doesn't make everything I wanted in black. No more chrome... so much easier to clean which is why I went that route. Plus it looks hot. I've gotten MANY compliments.
