I purchased a set of heat deflectors yesterday and installed them last night on my 2007 SG. What a goat screw. HD could have developed a system that was easier than screwin a monkey.
Best description I have heard of the install! What a pain in the @$$. Once they were on they work well but I dread the idea of ever having to take them off and put them on again.
Just bought the HD deflectors and I have to say, they better darn well work! As an engineer, I was a little skeptical about the whole bar and clip setup from the time I opened the box. The actual installation only served to prove my engineering instincts are dead on. The HD product is the WORST engineered installation I've ever see. The guy(s) who put this kit together should be fired.
The clips are a joke. The way to actually manufacture this would be to either put threaded holes in the bar or make the clips properly. The threading feature should snap into the hole on the bar. I'm looking at the RJs or Crotch Coolers now. Don't know if they'll work in addition to the HD ones (why remove them if I don't have to), but if they don't I won't hesitate in trashing them.

The RJS are designed to be installed by themselves, not over the HD ones.
Hey zoood/RJ, I have an 08 softail custom. Do you have one that will fit my bike? Didn't see it listed on your buying page.
Thanks
yes. Any softail heat deflector will fit your bike. Night train, deluxe, heritage, etc. they will all fit your bike. Just put in the year where it asks you too. Just some have studs, or jeweled color choices or just standard. If need be. You can call me.
My HD deflectors have worked well for three years and 34,000 miles. They look as good now as they did when installed.
I will admit they took about 30 minutes to install. I think they are the least obtrusive looking shields available.

COOL, I placed my order today! Can't wait to get them
Thanks RJ!
