Default 190 on a 2010 FLHX?

Hi All....I searched for this already but no luck finding a thread. Has anyone attempted to put a larger rear tire on their 2009 and up touring bike? I need a rear tire soon and was wondering if I can go even fatter to something like a 190...

Experiences?

I have never heard of a 190, however I have a 200mm on my 10 SG as well as lots of other forum members. I also went with the 17X6.25 rim. So to answer your question... yes you can run a wider tire... but I dont know if anyone makes a 16X200. Good luck!

What tire make and size? Does it fit without mods?

Maybe ABS doesn't work the same way down under. In the northern hemisphere it works just fine. If you only ride in dry weather on dry pavement then maybe it isn't worth the extra freight. You maybe the only person that has disabled it. Maybe we could do a poll.

What is the benefit of a wider tire, physical benefit?

Traction, the more rubber you can put ON the pavement the better, although I am totally happy with the stock tire on my '10, I may go wider when I replace it.

I'm not happy at all with the stock tire on my 09 and I'm gonna go wider too, but I'll go darkside just to see how it works.
I'm tired of paying $200 for tires that don't last more than 9,000 miles (I have 8,800 miles now on my Ultra and only 2/32 left), and don't really handle great, especially on wet.
I'm pretty much set on the Dunlop SP 5000 in 195/60-16. It has exactly the same height and circumference as the D407, only a tad wider but not much.
I've done my homework and this tire works very well on bikes, providing the same cornering abilities with superior grip (much better on wet), shorter braking distance and much higher longevity. It's just a matter of putting the correct pressure.

I know not everyone is willing to switch and my riding buddies might give me strange looks but I don't give a sh*t. I am ready to give it a shot.
