When will it happen?
When will we be able to order our new bikes right from the MOCO with everything we want on it? I mean you can do this with other motorsport products. Engine selsection, cams, pipes, seat, chrome, wheels ect? I know the answer to this is the killing the MOCO makes in aftermarket parts, but come on how long will this last? You can do this with BMW's. Just wondering.
Well HD"s CVO Program, ( Custom Vehicle Operations ) Is supposed to be just that..
But I think you still have to go through a Stealer...
And the prices are way up there...
$37,000+ for just about any model.

YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT? yOU ARE NEVER GOING TO BUY DIRECTLY FROM gm ,ford or any other car manufacturer so WHY THE moco? The most expensive HD model is the se Ultra and it lists for 33,495.I know some dealers sell for more but plenty sell at msrp. The program is designed to let dealers make money.Theres really nothing custom about the cvo as you can get any part they use from harley except for the painted parts. The short answer is"not in your life time".

Probably never. The MoCo has created a huge gold mine for their dealers by producing stock motorcycles. I'd love to order a new Ultra with the 110" motor from the factory. Which I could, if I wanted to pony up the $34K for a CVO...But I don't like their styling. So...I'm faced with paying the $20K+ for a stock Ultra, then having some 'tech' tear into my brand new bike, pull the motor, crack the cases, bore them out for the larger cylinders, then hopefully reassemble it correctly. And then make it run right.
I'm certain that there are people working in some dealerships that have the skills necessary to do this, and take pride in their work. But, I'm not willing to place that $25K bet.
I have heard something a long time ago about going to the MOCO plant and picking your new one up, but not to order direct from them. I would think its some kind to agreement with the dealerships to handle the dirty work (public interface) and the MOCO just builds and ships!
This is not the only place that operates that way. A lot of industry works that very same way, go through a dealer or you don't buy anything.

Well, I should have said order through the dealer, BUT be able to have a 103" SE motor, or chrome from end, braided line, hoses ect. I know the economics behind it, but I've written the MOCO back on some of their surveys I get when they want my input and I tell them to offer us a choice right off the bat, INSTEAD of basically buying everything twice. Just thought I'd throw that out there. YEs, I agree the SVO does let us do this, but its an all or nothing deal in MHO. Ya know what I mean? Instead of taking that new 88 in your bike they could pop in a 95, 103, 110 ect, and charge obviously more and accordingly so. Basically I'd like to pay for what i get and not have to wrack up so much in dealer labor installs. I guess to answer my own question is to suck it up and learn to wrench more...he he
