Default RE: How Long Should Body Work Take?

about 2 weeks ago while my bike was being serviced for a stator replacement ,My Electra Glide Police somehow fell off the service lift, causing $1400 in cosmetic damage to one side of the bike. The dealership had all the parts(birch white police saddle bag & lid,bag guard rails, bag crash bar, front crash bar, vivid black side panel, chrome air cleaner cover and police trim ring for air cleaner) shipped overnight air from HD to the dealership, they gave me the bad news about the bike on tuesday, and it was ready for pickup on thursday afternoon. i'm guessing the police bikes get damaged alot by departments and the birch white painted items are somewhat a instock item. I know when i ordered my king tour pak last fall from zanotti's they told me 8-12 weeks for a color match item, had the tour pak delivered to my door 19 days after ordering it. Possibally it depends on the color of the parts ordered ? not really sure.

I had a horizontal parking incident last month. I got away with a few cuts and bruises. My bike had around $4,000 in body damage. By the time we got everything squared away with the insurance company it was August 20th. The service manager says it will take at least a month to order new parts and replace them. I know when I had body work done on my car, they did it in a week. Why does it take H-D so long?

Hey, I was wondering how long it ended up taking. They ordered a front fender and fairing 3 weeks ago for an '05 chopper blue E-Glide. Getting antsy! The dealership ordered it since it's insurance work from the accident.

Thanks

It makes a big difference where you order the painted parts from. I wanted a set of Luxury Blue fairing lowers for my 04 RK CUSTOM.

When I checked with one of our local dealers, they told me 8-10 weeks for painted parts orders. I then called Jenni at Benjy's & not only did she save me over 20% on the price, she had them delivered to my door in seven days........

Be prepared for a wait of between 8-10 weeks. It sucks! I feel your pain.
