Nice writeup and I agree completely with your final results.
Compared to the stock piece , the SE comp is fairly "robust" to say the least.
At least it does what it's suppose to do.
Stay safe and enjoy.....

My only complaint about the drive is the loud clunk I get shifting through each gear. Will the SE Compensator help with this? I'm running Redline Shockproof in the tranny. It's helped some, but not as much as I hoped. Maybe I don't fully understand what the compensator does.

Can one tell if the compensator is a SE one or a stock one without pulling off the primary. I thought I did have one in my SE Ultra but my dealers tech told me that he has found some SE with the stock one

Thanks for the right up. Someone on here told me that while you were in there and you have the cash you might as well change out the the chain tensioner to the wedge style hydraulic tensioner from southern oregon hot bikes. There will be no clunk issues when starting (SE compensator) and no whining issues (wedge tensioner) with the chain because the HD unit has a tendency to ratchet up too tight and then it cannot come back down because of the ratcheting teeth, but the hydraulic one has no teeth so it constantly moves up and down. If memory serves correctly the tensionor was $100 ish.

Is the grinding of the inner primary for the removal of the stock stator hub or is it for the installation of the replacement SE stator hub. Must it be done for all inner pri or just some inner pri cases

Great write up.
I would not have thought of the bolts thing to gain space. Cool and thanks.

In my instance, grinding would have been necessary for removal of the stock stator as well as installing the new one. Loosening the inner primary case negated any need for this.

great writeup nemick. i also am using the s.e. compensator and am very happy with how it works for me. i'm now hearing lifter noise that i didn't hear because the original compensator felt loose and made racket that masked the lifter noise. i can live with that.

So did they fix this design defect on the 2011's, or are folks just continuing to spend extra money to correct it? The MOCO is the only company on earth that could get away with this kind of BS, IMO.

Cool write up, the more I read about these, the more I feel like I need it. I have 4500 on my bike now, it kicks hard sometimes when I start it. TO put it this way, it did it the other day when I started it and woman in the parking lot looked at me like something was wrong with my bike! SO it's pretty stupid sounding.
Does anyone have pictures of their install?
I know some don't have the time while they are doing a job like this, but it really helps some of us to understand more exactly what was involved.
