Time with the kid - best investment you'll make. Mine are girls - 22 and 21. Love when they ride with me. They do grow up fast. Wedding in January, so not too many mods for me for a while.
Just last week I took my 7 year old son on his first mountain ride as well. Had the family up in the mountains and he wanted to go. Got him a proper helmet that fit, put the headset in it for the intercom and off to the ice cream store we went. He absolutely loved it, talked my ear off the entire 45 minutes and loved going through the twisties.
Glad to see you are spending quality time with your son. Like you, I cant wait for him to be riding his own bike beside me. I showed in a blacked out sporty and asked him what he thought. He said it was cool, but also wanted one that he "laid down on and goes on the racetracks". Guess I have some time to convince him to stay HD, unless they do something again like Buell.
These are memories they will never forget. Congrats.
Do you use a harness? How do you make sure he doesn't slip off? I've also heard that a lot of kids fall asleep pretty fast - any issues?
No harness...how ever I'm 6'3 300lbs...I pretty much keep him pressed against the tour pack the whole falling asleep issues we've talked about me & my son...I have told him that is extremely important that he never fall asleep on the bike...if he feels sleepy to let me know right away!!...but as a back up plan I keep constant communication with him and try to stop every 20 minutes or so to let him stretch his legs
