Default intercom operation ?

As you will probably figure out with this question, I am new to owning a Harley. I just purchased a 07 Ultra. In trying to figure out how to turn on the intercom (still haven't figured it out even using the owners manual), I now have the "set" displayed next to the soft key #6 when I turn on the ignition or ACC. This is when the radio is off.
Thanks, Tim

Turn radio on, press the int button on the left side of the radio. Then the #1 preset key will say on/off next to it. Press the 1 preset key to turn it on, press the 1 preset to turn it back off. Then adjust the vox level with the right side presets, use the volume control on handlebar to adjust drivers volume and use passenger volume lever to adjust for the passenger

Does the radio have to be on for the intercom to work?
Thanks, Tim

Yes When you spear on the intercom it will over ride the radio but if you don't want to hear the radio just drop radio volume down to mute.

The unit has to be turned on but not necessarily the AM/FM selection. Is that what you were asking ? Give it some time and go through all the buttons following the manual. You'll figure it out.

When you adjust volume, the adjustment is made based on what mode you are in. If you have the FM radio displayed and change the volume up or down it will only apply to the FM radio, it will not affect the volume for the intercom, or cb or anything else. If you want to adjust the volume for the intercom you must have the intercom displayed.

Thanks for all the help. Shouldn't the "set" icon disappear after I set the clock? Can't seem to get it to go away.
