This year was great.
My 19 year old son road out for his 2nd time.
He said he is going to break his dad's record, as I started going at age 20 (now 50)
Next year we are hitting Cody, Wy and Yellowstone and doing Sturgis on our way back east.

1st time out... met a buddy in Wisconsin and we arrived the Friday before. Stayed @Hog Heaven. Met some great new friends, did all the awesome rides we could in 3 days and headed home. Hit the Harley Museum in Milwaukee and the Tail of the Dragon on the way back. 5500 miles in 12 days!

Best Breakfast: Nemo volunteer fire department.

Oh, a lot more than four went... I just got home yesterday...

18 days, 7 states, 3,000+ miles, 5th time to Sturgis...

If one thinks it was crowed this year they should have gone in '06... that was a hell of a lot more crowed than this year... The past two years it has been easy to find parking on Main Street.

If one finds themselves waiting in lines to get through town you obviously don't know how to get around.

Weather this year was great... Sight seeing was great... riding the hills was great... Vanocker canyon was great... Iron Mountain road was great... 1/2 mile flat track was great...

Friend, food and weather was great... I had a great time....

Be sure and do Bear Tooth Pass (in the morning if possible) and the Chief Joseph Hwy into Cody

For the last 3 years I have been dying to go. I would plan with a few buddies and always at the last minute they would back out. Finally my wife got tired of seeing me mope about and said, "F-it! lets just you and I go." Do I even need to say, I love this woman?

We headed out together on separate bikes. Our first and definitely not last Sturgis. Was 12 days, 9 states, and 4600 miles.

The only problem we had was it was kinda hot in the lower states and our bikes overheated in heavy traffic a few times and ran around 260 just going down the highway. Not a buzz kill, I just need put oil coolers on if I am going to run that fast, that heavy, and for that long in the heat.

I think most out there agree, I-90 sucks badly. Headwinds, crosswinds, 10 million grasshoppers/crickets beating you up, and heat. Still it was better than being at work!

In all we had the time of our lives. It was the first time we'd ridden that far and for that long. Continuous 500-600 mile days can take a toll, but the little lady hung in there without complaint. Proud of her...

High points?
1. The Sun setting over the Iowa cornfields while turning mile 620 for the day.
2. Running the canyons and Iron Mountain road.
3. Seeing Devils Tower and Mt. Rushmore with my own eyes.
4. Taking a water bottle and dumping it's contents out in the wind-stream in front of my wife in 100 degree weather.
5. Actually meeting another forum member (BadX - Mean city cycles) who was ultra cool.
6. Eating a steak fit for a Cowboy in Wyoming for breakfast.
7. Finding out the free Corn Palace in Mitchell has REALLY good A/C....and it's huge inside.

Low points?
1. Not seeing any friggin Buffalo or large animal in Custer state park.
2. Overheated the bikes in traffic in Nashville and St. Louis due to unforeseen car accidents ahead.
3. Carrying too much crap.

Here are a few pics (following posts) Can't wait till next year!

Way over packed. I ended up using nearly everything though. Next year I'm FedEx-ing this crap.

50 miles out of Charleston...rain.

Only the Best for me and my Baby! Actually it was the only hotel within like 50 miles that had a room.

Wife laid out. Was like 101 in Kentucky. Was afraid she would get heat stroke so we stopped for a few hours.

Katmandu's campground. Was ok.

Interesting bikes.

Awesome.

Apparently the owners brought their garage with them. These bikes never moved.

The blue Road Glide was a hit. Nice girls bike for sure.

Sea of bikes at 0930 behind Black Hills HD in Rapid City...

Nemo.

Needles.
