Question 104 Octane Boost

Anybody tried 104 Octane Boost in there Harley ?? Good / Bad

Calif. gas is max. 92 oct.

From my MX experience:

I go to towns like Saratoga , Los Gatos, where they drive a lot of Germen cars that require 92 oct. ( this lets me know that the gas is fresh ) BUT still get some pinging..

I know I need to spend the $400+ and get a tunner - but havig a 13 yr. daughter - need I say more....

http://www.goldeagle.com/brands/104_plus/default.aspx

Web site states:

Q: Can I use 104+ products in 2-cycle engines and 4-cycle engines?
A: Yes, all three 104+ products are safe for use in all 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines

I had a friend once who used so much of the 104 in his FXST, it made little yellow ***** of deposits on his plugs. He cut back a little and all was well. I used it in my FLST years ago, but have not in the last few years.

As far as whether or not it works, the bikes ran good either way, and did not seem to have any more seat of the pants power to speak of. I think it was more of a "makes me feel good" type of thing at the time.

My 09SG was a ping monster....it pinged stock, and it pinged when I went 103 with a 54 and .030 bringing me to 10.5-1. I've had a pv5, then switched over to a SERT which was never fully tuned up on a dyno..........I put in octane booster religiously HOPING it would help out (I run 93 octane here), but it didnt do much if anything besides irritate me. It pinged until I got the bike completely tuned 2 days ago. I told the tuner what I was hearing, feeling etc....then I told him what I was looking for. He took his time with the tune, he even was able to get out the notorious "thunderheader dip" 100%. For the first time in 2 years Im completely satisfied with the bike. It starts better, breathes better, rolls through every gear effortlessly. It has more power than ever, runs cooler and Im happy to report, I COULDNT MAKE IT PING!!!!!! And I promise you, I tried to make it ping!!!!!
Take it with a grain of salt, but I know my bike inside and out. Ive put 27k miles on it since December of 09 and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, this tune made me happier than the 2 cams, big bore, or anything else Ive done to the bike.....

I know its not what you wanted to hear, but the tune made all the difference in the world for me.

I'd be surprised if the boost helped but it wouldn't hurt to try. I think you pretty much answered your own question. A good tuner.

I run that stuff in the ironhead and it loves it. The octane boost eliminates piston knock and dieseling. Never have had a pinging problem.

I run 93 octane in the (EVO) Road King with no octane booster and everything is fine. It will run rougher with the cheap 87 octane gas though. I'm thinking that if you are having problems with 92 octane in your bike, you should try and fix it some other way instead of adding octane booster.

Ill ask the tuner to email me the map and then I'll send you a copy. Just to clarify, its an 09 flhx with a SEST, 103 with FT pistons and .030 gasket, Andrews 54, and a thunderheader with 2 veins lifted up in the collector.

My road king pinged like it was made to do it. I use octane booster with every tank and now its ping free.
I know I need a PCIII, but I don't have $500 sitting around right now (PCIII + Dyno).
When I recently changed plugs, they came out 1/2 black and 1/2 red. I suspected the octane boost, but my mechanic told me it was the ethanol.

I also have a local gas station that sells 110 octane racing fuel. One day I'll roll in and fill up and see what that's like. I'm sure its not cheap.
