Hi, I'm about to install my D&D fat cat that arrived today. I took out the old crushed stock exhaust gaskets, and the new ones supplied with the pipe are not going in. Is there a trick or lubricant to get them in? I push in one side and the other side starts to pop out, frustrating!
Also the heat shield on the front header has a small blemish in the chrome up high near the top. It's small, but I noticed it after I inspected them. How will D&D or DRVTWIN handle this? Can they send me a new heat shield if I send them a digital picture of it, or do I need to stop now and box it back up? I would hate to do that, I waited all this time to get them! Thanks for any help or advice!
For the gaskets yes a little WD40 if you like the trick is even pressure all the way a round get yourself in a comfortable since the motor is in the biketake your time and just push a little bit and fight off the areas that want to come out. Once you get one in the second will be easier. You can put them in dry no problem ust don't mess them up pushing to hard when its not going in correctly.
As for the rest the DR is a great vendor give Shawn a call!
Almost forgot, one more quick question. I installed a PCV, and it says that I need to disconnect the O2 sensors. So I'll install the bungs in the pipes with anti sieze to fill the holes, but leave the plugs disconnected under the right side cover? Is that correct?
Yes that will work. You can leave the sensors in if you want just disconnect them remember to use the termination plugs to terminate the sensor wires..
You won't leave them disconnected under the right side cover that I know of the directions show to terminate them where they would have connected to the sensor.
Thanks for all the help everyone. WD-40 helped me get the gaskets in! Those termination plugs that I need, I have to get them at the Harley dealer? I thought I could just tape them off.
Drew, thanks for the response. I will hold off and see what Shawn says in the morning. I'm torn, I don't want to go through a lot of hassle for this blemish, but then again, I paid a lot of money for these, so I'd like to see what he says.

Let us know how the blemish on the heat shield is handled. I would think they would ship you another heat shield overnight or asap, and have you send the blemished one back. JMO
