The saga continues... two weeks ago I took my bike in to have the brackets replaced. Done, I thought! A day later it was still was shaking to beat the band. Took fairing off again and discovered both top brackets still broke!!! Said a couple of nasty words and back to the dealer I go. Had to take the fairing apart to show them in the parking lot. They had only discovered a lower one broke and that is all they replaced. They took pictures of the top ones and sent them to HD. Now get this! Dealer finally called me today and said HD will not replace them. "Its on the owner". Man am I POed. Anybody have better results?

I sure as heck would not stand for that. I would be raising some HE!! over it.
Mine were checked last week, and at 7500 miles they are fine.
Just pull yours and have them welded up with a bit of reinforcement. If you had the dealer install stock ones, they'd be just as likely to break a second time since they are cheaply made junk....so you may as well take care of it properly once and for all.
My 06 Streetglide shakes at the left side at and below 2000 rpm. Smooths out above 2000. Left handlebar shakes but not the right. Is that the same as your bike?
Seahag, Most likely that is what I'll do But, they need a piece of my mind first. I will be calling HD Customer Service in the morning. I really don't want to go through this again. Besides a buddy and I are leaving Upstate NY for Florida on the 8th of October. Not much time to mess with HD. Thanks!
Bluesgrub, The fairing is what shakes. The handlebars are not conected to the fairing. You may have a different issue.

Yep, that's exactly what mine did. Broken left upper fairing bracket.
Anyone had the fairing off an '07 model yet? Wondering if design has been addressed to correct this or not. If not I'll plan on getting my brackets welded when I have some down-time this winter.
Honestly, I'd be quite shocked if they did address this problem yet, if ever....From what I've read on several forums, this bracket design goes all the way back to the advent of this style fairing in 1996. What makes you think they would finally do something? I suppose in the overall scheme of things, they have a fairly low PERCENTAGE of failures...even if you can find thousands of people who have experienced this problem.
As far as the one dealerships excuse that it is do to overtightening of the speaker mounting bolts...I say B.S. I've read numerous examples of failures from people who haven't touched anything inside their fairing. He just saw something non-standard in your fairing and is trying to pass the buck on.
I swear that there is a training class on how to use the "excuse book". Ranks up there with "No problem found" and "That's normal". [:@]
They both shake. When I take my hands off the handlebars at stop the left side of the fairing shakes alot and the right side of the fairing vibrates a little, when I roll the throttle a little the left side of the handlebars shake and the left side of the fairing shakes a lot.
