Helmet standards
I ran across this link that attempts to explain some of the helmet testing standards such as DOT, Snell and several of the European guidelines and thought it might be woth sharing.

In 2005, motorcyclist magazine did an independent study on Helmets. They did their own research to see which offered the most protection. In short some of the cheaper helmets were safer than the more expensive.
After the magazine ran the story, some of the helmet manufacturers who received bad reviews stopped advertising in the magazine.
It is a real good article and suggest you find time to read it.
