I bought new, but only because at the time the '08s that I was looking at were only $3K less than a new one and after adding warranty, security and ABS it was about the same. So I went with new. If I found the right used bike at the time, I would have bought a used one. Remember, the used one might already have other stuff you want that you will have to pay for later, like stage 1 for instance. Or maybe some chrome that you don't have to buy.

You can find low mileage '09 ultra with abs and others for 18k or less, for an '08 (I own one, great bike) I wouldn't pay more than 15k if it was exactly what I wanted.

If buying new makes you happy, go for it. Me, I'll let someone else take the depreciation hit.
I bought my 2009 Ultra with ABS with 2,400 miles and I paid $5K less than what it would have cost me for a new one with all the accessories it had and a 5-year extended warranty.

Like some have said here -- I'd go with an 09 (if I were looking to change things). You get the newer frame but don't get the cat and heat issues of the 10. Just my

I had an '05 EGC and loved it. Then a family friend let me take her '09 EGC out for a ride. Amazing ride difference between the 2 bikes. Later, I was forced to get rid of my '05 and be bike-less.

Little did I know, a year later she'd crash her '09 and want to move on to a trike and I'd be the recipient of an awesome, AWESOME deal on her '09!!! The bike's still in the shop at the moment, but it won't be much longer. WhoooHooo!

I'd definitely hold out for the new frame.
