Just curious as to whether the bike has a factory cruise or aftermarket throttle lock. I have a aftermarket lock on my FXD and I am in the habit of constantly checking it due to vibration or hand position putting it on enough to cause the engine to stay at a higher RPM when trying to decelerate. Does the ECM have a scannable memory like cars have? If so perhaps a service tech can pull the info and get an idea of what happened.
I have been riding 41 years, the only time I have experianced sudden acceleration is because of my own dumb *** and it is usually with a parked cop somewhere!
No offense, but your wannabe hard-assed self-centered attitude from your very first post says to me that maybe there is a jerk in or on the throttle that caused your problem.
Throttle cable sticking due to low mileage bike sitting...lube throttle cable with teflon lubricant. If it is an EFI bike and has 8 degree fuel injectors that might be a cause of surging.
I was going to say the same thing. Sorry about your crash and bike
Sudden acceleration on a TC88 is almost an oxymoron.
Seriously, I had that happen once while pulling the front brake and inadvertantly increasing the throttle while downshifting into first. I'm more careful now.
Otherwise, a broken throttle return spring may have been the culprit, though you probably checked that after inspecting the crashed bike.
I have been riding for 40 years (ago, ten year layoff in there due to financial problems-aka divorce) and that has even happened to me.
sounds to me like the bike just wants to be ridden and since you didnt ride her very often she figured shed show you what she thought about that... but deffinately sounds like a throttle cable. i hope your finger is ok by the way....lol just teasin.... dont get your feathers all ruffled up
