I had an incident when I had to break very hard. So hard that the crash bar made a rather big dent in the fender. Has this happened to anyone else?
09 UC Non ABS I am afraid. But still I have a big whow in the front fender.
Gary
Had the exact same thing happen to me about 4 weeks ago with my 09 Ultra. I took it to the dealer and Harley replaced it under warranty.
The dealer told me they had never seen this happen before. When they checked with Harley about replacing it under warranty, Harley admitted to them that it can happen in rare circumstances. Which to me is B.S. because while I was at the dealer I showed them how it can be done. Just get the bike rolling a few feet then hit the front brake hard. Watch that fender come up and hit the bar. To me, I call that a design flaw.

A video of this would be really interesting and informative. I have slammed my front brakes pretty hard doing emer stops during practice and never saw that. I'm think maybe the forks bottomed out too.
That's an interesing picture that was posted. Poking around eBay the other day and was looking at used front fenders, and noticed that many either had dents in the top of the fender in the same area, or the description stated that the fender had been repaired and noted that same area as to where the damage was. I wondered why so many had such similar damage, and now I know.
I suspect that under hard braking or a huge pothole, or both, the suspension bottoms out.

I wish I would have thought of that before I had the fender replaced. I sure don't want to do it to the new fender. Thing is, one does not even have to be moving very fast. Just need to be moving forward a foot or so then hit the front brake as hard as you can. At least on mine I can. The dealer even inspected the forks and said they are fine.
That is very strange. Wonder if they will replace it the next time cause its going to happen again and again.
Kroozeabout.
I was wondering that, also. My warranty expires in 03/2011. I would think since they already replaced it once under warranty, they'd have to again since they've already set the precedence. If not, I'll see them in Small Claims.
