Dented fender and replacement
H.D. replaced under warranty. They said it was a know issue. If you don't believe it can happen, believe me it can.

When inspecting the replacement fender I noticed an extra hole stamped into the left side.

The dealer called MOCO and was told that's normal on replacement fenders. (notice I said "replacement." )They could not tell him why or what purpose it serves. The dealer recommended I call MOCO.
I called customer service and basically was told, "It is what it is". No one could explain to me why the hole needs to be there. When I asked why there's no holes on any of the new bikes at the dealer, they had no answer. They will not replace it because their "tech" and I use that term loosely, says it's normal. The phone rep did say she'd look into it some more and get back to me. I'm not expecting a return call.
Here's what I think. MOCO made some fenders with an extra hole stamped in them. Since it's a replacement fender, they're saying it's normal to save them the cost of bad fenders. I'm thinking if it were true and that hole needs to be there, why don't they have a plug for it instead of leaving a visual hole in the fender. If anything stick a rivet in before painting.
I don't know what else I can do. I could live with it if only they could tell me why it needs to be there.
Any suggestions?
I guess my call last week did some good. The dealer got an OK yesterday to replace the replaced fender.

If you lose your battle you could always get a bottle of touch up paint and paint a grommet plug and plug the hole. Would like another rivet.

The fenders are made to fit various models and years. The older FL before the electronic version had a speedo cable support in that area. It's amazing the different year FL that will interchange fenders.
