Default Fuel manager

I run a stock TC88 with stage one and download but no other mods to the engine. I now pull a trailer and wonder if a PCIII or some other fuel manager would help the bike perform a bit better. I have noticed more popping when shifting this year but that is not related to towing.

Any thoughts?

Hi, mileage can affect the tuning of your system as the engine changes it's needs with wear. The trips taken with your trailer puts a demanding load on the bike that is safely handled by your upgrades, however more power = more wear on the engine itself, under load or not. I'd take it to a shop that has tuning software or back to your dealer and have them tune your bike, sounds like the popping is coming from the bike going lean on deceleration with the original ECM download you had performed on it. As always it cost $$$ to keep your bike running like a champ, so it may be worth looking into. As to go against add on packs, I'd just stick to actual ECM tuning and steer clear of add on packs that modify signals to the ECM for different calibrations. I'm not saying they don't work, as I have serviced bikes with them and even readjusted values to try to get better results. It's just the wrench in me that flinches at the idea of one more thing to troubleshoot when it comes to tuning. Good luck!

Why would you have a stage 1 download with no other mods? Stock exhaust and air cleaner?

Sorry, I was not clear. I do have the inexpensive Harley slip-ons and breather kit with K&N filter.

Its looking more an more like why would anyone bother to do stage I period.
There seems to be a lot of miss info about what actually happens with the stage I download. I was told by the dealer it added more fuel. He lied to me just to get the business. A certain respected tuner that does business on this forum told me the only thing it does is raise the rpm. And seriously would doubt anybodys claim that they could hit the factory set rev on a stock 96 in sixth gear, and once MOCo started putting the cats in I'm not sure you could hit it in fifth gear. If this be so adding slip ons and Ac would only further the lean running. Especially at wide open throttle.
