Guys, pretty noob question here but I was wondering if there was any way of knowing if a bike has a stage 1 tune prior to buying Xieds or other fuel management system...
Now that I think of it... I never really checked before installing my Xieds.
Now I'm wondering if the previous owner (had it for 3 weeks) installed or downloaded some other fuel map etc.

Would the bike behave weird? More fuel smell perhaps? Would it even add 6-8% or would the tune and the plugins cancel each other out?
thanks!

I suppose first you'd have to take into consideration what mods had been done to the bike, ie., aftermarket exhaust/intake, then for *****'n giggles check under the seat and left side cover for a standalone tuner that replaces the ECM or a Power Commander or other tuner that piggy backs the factory ECM. If you find none of the above there's a good chance the MAP is stock.
But, if you think the bike may have been re-flashed at the dealership, it's simple enough to have them run the vin# and you'll have your answer in that regard.
'Not sure as far as the XiED's and a tuner...however, I think you'll be defeating the purpose of any reflash or tuner if you continue to use the XiED's, and as such they would just be an added expense for no apparent purpose, in which case you could then sell them to recoupe some $$ and spend it on other things like, well, ie., ******* and beer!
The dealer stage one remap still sets the air/fuel ratio too lean, as required by the EPA. The only real thing the stage one remap does is increase the rev limiter to a higher RPM. You should still use the XiED units to get the a/f up to a little richer setting. It will make your bike run a little smother and cooler. The XiED's will be all you'll need until you do a higher stage upgrade like cams or something. Then you will need a much more expensive tuner set-up.
Thanks for that explanation guys, very helpful. I was sort of freaking out about this the other day and couldn't find any answers on the web, (except here)
A stock stage one map will also increase the VE tables, one of the main purposes for the stage one map. I have never seen a stock afr table but I doubt it is any different than the stage one afr table. As noted above the afr will be lean, set to meet epa standards. Most of the table will be set to 14.9 closed loop.
