This is what he's referring to: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I've done this on every harley I've ever owned and all the hotrod motors I've built for myself as well as those I've built for others. Never had an issue, or a set of rings not properly seat.

The BS line the dealership (MoCo) will feed you is strictly an insurance thing. They want you to peter it around for 1000 miles so YOU have a chance to "get comfortable" on the bike. It has NOTHING to do with the engine breakin.

Heck, I do those 30-60-30 runs and then take new builds straight to the dyno shop for tuning.

BTW..... CONGRATS on the new scoot, ENJOY!

I agree with the 30/60/30 break in. Oh and trust me after about 10 miles you will no longer miss the fatbob. You will wonder how you rode it as long s you did.

Congrats on the new bike. I do miss my first Harley, but I don't miss carrying half of my toolbox along with it.

Congrats, I am glad I didn't have to wait that long, I only had about three hours after I decided on the one I wanted. I gave them a deposit over the phone at about noon, and they said be there at 3 to pick it up with something like 2 miles on the clock.... it was January 19th and 24* out. I live about 8 miles from the dealer. When I pulled it into the garage it had about 50 miles on it! I couldn't just go straight home I told the wife!
