What a question. Are you looking for new or used? Any budget limitations? Any color preference? What kind of mods are you interested in? What years are you finding up for sale in your area?

Myself I think you ought to get whatever year they made the black ones.

Model - RK Standard (hard bags). I know several folks who changed from leather to hard, no one who went the other way.

Year - as new as you can afford. Definately '09+ if possible.

Standard. Hard lockable bags and aluminum wheels. I hate spokes and tubes.

Road King Classic. Love the look, comes with cruise and the '10 comes with the bigger motor.

Why is an 09+ a preference for you Teachu2?

I'm a Canuck looking in Oregon so the dealers can't sell a new bike to me...

.....no sales tax there (have to pay a bunch when I get home)...good selection....fun trip..

Agree with the RKC. Can't beat the look of spoke wheels, and that cruise control comes in handy. Bags are a subjective thing. Personlly, I much prefer the shape and appearance of the leather bags, plus it's easier to clean the rear wheel/tire with removables.

really depends on you, what you can afford and how you plan to ride. I "traded up" from an '08 Fatboy to an '03 Road King Classic. I really like the silver & black paint with the leather clad bags.
