My wife and I are planning a trip through both the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan trying to hit 4 of the 5 great lakes. What are the not to miss locations / things to see in Michigan?
Thanks for your input

Possibly the state in your review mirror as you leave?
Lot's of things to do and see. Google 'Tunnel of Trees' for a nice little ride. Also, be sure to eat at the Polish restaurant at the first town after the tunnel. I can't remember what it's called but it's worth a stop. Also, you might as well check out Mackinaw Island since you'll be going over the bridge anyway. It's a nice little ferry ride, some expected tourist traps, but no motorized vehicles allowed and a good day out.
The locks at Sue St. Marie (sp) (connecting Lake Superior to Lake Huron). The Mackinac bridge, Grindstone City on Lake Huron, Sleeping Bear Dunes (on Lake Michigan), Detroit water front from Windser at night (cross over the Ambassador Bridge). The Rouge Plant vomplex area down river. Just for starters. They were all there before I left in 1975.
Edit: if you're talking Polish dining establishments, the Polonia in Hamtramck is excellent. We also have a large mexican population with fantastic food, and Slow's BBQ downtown is one of the best places I've eaten at in the country but the service is usually flat out terrible.
It's been awhile (10 years) since I've made a trip across the bridge. Was hoping to make it this year.
We make a stop in Tomahawk and head north and grab hwy 2 to the bridge.
Then make our way down hwy 31 to Ludington and take the ferry back to Wisconsin, missing Chicago.
What I remember is that it's a nice fall ride.
must do rides, M22 btwn Manistee and Traverse City/ M119 btwn Cross Village and Petoskey/ US 41 btwn Houghton and Copper Harbor/ US2 Btwn Naubinway and St Ignace/US23 btwn Mackinaw City and Tawas City. Take the Jet Express across Lake Michigan and avoid the land of the FIBS and the mess at the south end of Lake Michigan.
