Yes, all oils are slick. Just like all cars have four wheels! Yes, you can put any oil you want into your primary. But, there is a reason why people choose to put better oil in their bikes instead of the K-mart bluelight special oil. And, that is Quality! You invested over 20k buying your bike, why wouldn't you want to protect it with better quality oil. The two main things that kill metal parts are heat and wear. Crappy oil breaks down when metal parts get hot and allows more wear. Of course, it's individual choice. Your HD can run for 20,000 miles or 60,000 miles. The choice is up to you.

Who gives a crap if its slick of not, it's just to lube the chain and clutch. Right?
I do my routine maintenance and use the MOBIL 1 V-Twin 20W50 in both the engine and primary. During a conversation the other day with the local HD service manager he recommended I run non synthetic in the primary. His basis was a local guy who dynos bikes has noted clutch slippage on V-Twins with synthetic in the primary.
Any others recommending this? I change out my primary and engine oil every 2,500 miles and haven't noticed any slippage, but my scoot hasn't been dyno'd.

I feel the same way about synthetic in the primary, it's not helping you there. All it needs to do in there is to lube the chain and synthetic is overkill here.
That's the point I was making. I run Mobil 1 V-twin 20w50 in my engine and Redline heavy in the transmission but anything other than regular old Harley oil in the primary is just a wast of good oil.

everybody is overlooking that the oil also cools the clutch by pulling heat from the clutch housing.
i have 60K on mine using synthetic ATF. ther ATF removes all doubt of any possible clutch slipping.
