let me start off by saying i have 01-electra-glide classic had bike for six years 26000 miles bike came with two key fobs first owner said he never use and i have never tryed to use them.NOW THE PROBLEM turn ingnition and four ways flash 4or5 times hit button from fuel wait til engine light goes off hit starter button bike fires up no problem the key light seems to stay on longer when 4 ways flash. changed battery it stopped for sometime. came on again had battery checked it was ok cleaned cables it quit.harley has looked into could not find a problem and has no codes stored.ii am wondering if it could be the alarm system?can that be unhooked totally?i am not a real good mechanic that is why i am asking for advice from the smart guys here!!i bothers me to death when i am along way from home!but so far so good always makes it home !! thanks for any advice!!

 

I had a problem with the key light for security staying on as well; had to do with led turn signals I installed.

I installed a load equalizer and the problem went away; cost about $55 dollars

Not sure by reading your post that I understand all what you are saying but I assume it a factory alarm and can be taken off by replacing the signal light module with a standard one. Mine is under the splash cover in front of the rear wheel on a Softail. As long as its on there at least in 04 its always on ready to be armed. The siren has its own battery is a separate contained part that plugs into it. If the post that someone sent does not help, describe your problem some more and a little history about the signal lights.

 

Are you sure it's related to the security system and that it's not your bike telling you that there is a "check engine" problem? Sounds like maybe there is a historic code.

 

not sure what is going on i rode 50 miles stopped for gas turn key on and flashers started flashing and the key light stayed on longer than normal. rode home shutoff bike let it cool still flashing when you turn key now i just walk by and no flasher this time only thing battery is on tenderand i am second owner and never use key fobs. just wandering if security thing is causing problem PS harley has checked for codes and could not find a problem.
