I remember when there wasn't a run/stop switch on the handlebar...But that was back when motorcycles had points and carburetors...I still turn the engine off with the key switch...With all of the computers on automobiles I wonder why they don't shut them down with a run/stop switch?

I use the ignition switch not the kill switch and here is why, the ignition switch is much more robust than the kill switch. I have seen kill switches wear out due to being used so often.

Hmm probably a pretty good reason. Which one is easier/cheaper to replace down the road, though?

I knew an old school biker years ago who would leave it in 1st gear and just pop the clutch to kill it. Ha, ha... BTW, on my 08 UC I use the ign to turn off the engine and would use the handlebar mounted "kill switch" for an emergency.
