Default Help with intercom system

A friend of mine has a 09 SE Ultra and has the intercom headsets. When plugged in he gets alot of static and can barley hear anything. He took it to the local dealer (in Germany) and was told that the system is fine. Plugged in a head set from another guys bike that works great on a 07 Ultra and same problem. Bike has been to dealership twice and both times have been told that there is nothing wrong with the module. Any advice?
