Hawg-wired sells fairing lower installation kits without speakers. Also, check the classifieds here; there was a guy selling the HT kit w/o speakers.

Alternatively, buy the HT kit and sell the speakers as brand new.

This won't help you if you have unvented lowers, but if you have vented lowers, the 2011 CVO speaker boxes in the fairing lowers are a simple replacement for the glove boxes and work very well with 6.5" speakers:

Good luck with your project.

I don't know how when you mix and match systems to make them work together, I don't have that much knowledge but I did hear and then bought the Hawg Wired 4 in the face amp ,upper and lower speakers and tweeters and it rocks, if I had j & m in my bike I'd wait, John has posted they are coming out with lower speakers the first of the year and I'm sure he'll have it worked out for the system to work in harmony

tj316 ,,,,,

That is correct, if done properly and with enough amplifier power, speakers in the lowers will actually contribute significantly to the overall audio system experience on the highway ,,,,

just remember, the lowers position for a speaker acoustically is not near as good as the fairing position, so you need to put the largest speaker possible in the lowers, ((J&M 7.25” is preferred of course)) along with a good amount of RMS amplifier power ,,,,,,

I have posted this information below on other threads here ,,, as this is the only way that I could find to make the speakers in the lowers position really rock ,,,,,,

""""""" In about 4 weeks, I will show everyone here a NEW J&M system for the J&M 2011 StreetGlide with 500w RMS 4-channel J&M amp properly mounted in the fairing ,,,,,, 7.25" J&M speakers in the fairing and ALSO 7.25" J&M speakers in the new J&M molded lowers inserts, with grill mounted mids and tweets, on all 4 custom J&M speaker grills ,,,,,

suffice to say that there is NOTHING available today to compare to it ,,,,,

new 500w J&M amp and 7.25” lowers speaker kits scheduled for release late March 2011 ,,,, """"""""

I've thought about wiring up a set of these, but I don't want to lose the functionality of the glove boxes.

I'm holding out for until the 8 Speaker System is released because it will obviously contribute More Significantly To My Overall Audio Experience than only having 6 Speakers.

The best sounding system i built was a screamin eagle ultra that we put Hertz Hi-energy 6.5" in the fairing, Hertz Hi-energy 5.25" in the lowers and 2 Hertz 8" subs in the bags. We used an Arc Mini 4 channel amp that i mounted in the fairing and a Arc mini 500.1 for the subs in one bag. This bike sounds amazing. I love the lowers, you just need to use the right speakers. I have tried them all, and found that the Hertz can't be touched.

LOL, does that mean you have a 2011 with velcro nameplate on the title too?
