If you aim the spots to the level of the hi beam and meet an oncoming vehicle and you switch to lo beam, the spots will still blind the oncoming vehicle. I did that with my stock spots and was consistently flashed even though I switched to Lo. I had to reaim them

I've had mine wired to work this way for months. No issues with fuses to this point...

Of course, even properly aimed and unmodified (IE passing lamps only on with the low beam), you will still get flashed by some idiots who see three lights and assume that means high beam (until they see the high beam for real...).

I have the Truck-Lite 7" LED (same one that Kury sells). I have only done it little night riding on unlit "country" roads. So far, I like its lighting. The spots do a good job of lighting the side areas where the low beam doesn't put a lot of light. The headlight uses less power than the standard light but realistically not a lot less. Low beam is 2.5A or 30w at 12v. High is 4.5 or 54w.

9004's are 45w/65w vs LED's 30w/54w.

I am thinking about rewiring my spots to work with both the high and low beams.

I have heard that that is the default on the international models.

I haven't taken pictures yet, with the moon as full as it has been (3/4 waxing when I got the LEDs installed) they won't show as well as they will in a couple weeks when the moon is just a sliver. There have been lots of pictures of how bright LEDs are, so those will have to hold you for now.

I can say, after a little tweak of aim (raised it a little) these things are really impressive. My concern about the high beam not lighting to the edge of the road is long gone. I am now 100% convinced that these are worth every penny. And I am getting used to the look...

Think you could try some pics? My vision isnt bad but I think my night vision sucks. The first thing I plan on doing is rewiring the driving lights to work on high or low beam. and replacing the headlight with this LED unit. I think this should be a really good option.

I will snap some shots, the moon is waning now so soon...

If you think you want more or better light, you will not be sorry for buying these. The amount and quality of light is impressive.

That's just a bunch of coin for them though. One can make the case that being able to see is worth it. Guess I'm going to have to start and LED fund.

If someone with the Custom Dynamics (same one Kuryakyn is selling, made by where where Lightguy works) LED headlamp wants to meet up somewhere in central Ohio and do a direct side by side comparison, I'm up for it.

Edit: Corrected inside parenthesis, mistyped while in a hurry to get out the door to work...
