A trip to the local lock smith can get you a key made, worked for me. Oh and they can use the number just cost more than to duplicate your key. Cost me 3 bucks.
here's an old easyriders mag tech tip, keep your spare key inside the tail light lens. tape it down so it doesn't rattle around in there. phillips screwdriver, remove the lens, you have your key.
You can order the keys by either the code on the key tag, code on side of key itself, or by taking your VIN and title or proof of registration to the dealer. The cost last year was about $27.00. May have gone up since then. New ignition switch and keys will be close to $100.00.
if you order a lock cylinder for a tourpack it is $16.50 and comes with 2 keys. Don't get caught up on the fact that you do or do not have a tourpack, they use the same key as the ignition and as far as I know HD keys are all alike for the current modle year.
Keys can be ordered by the vin. Come in twos and are right at 20.00 for the pair. Ordered two sets last year flh and fx less than a week and dealer had both my vins in his computer
