I did a search and only came up with 3 threads, none of them covered my problem.
Here it is. While bike is stopped at a light while riding or starting out the day the bike won't down shift to first. While pressing the shift lever it will move but will not change the gears. I have to rock the bike a little or let the clutch lever out and engage the engine a little before it will let me shift to first.
Try a different tranny fluid. I never had this problem on my Harley but the tranny shifted real nice when I went to redline shockproof in the tranny. It used to always happen on my BMW however. Nothing was wrong with the tranny but sometimes the gears didn't mesh and you had to rock it back and forth to get it into first.
Probably need to adjust the clutch, sounds like the clutch is dragging slightly, not just the cable but the clutch rod that's adjusted at the clutch basket on the primary side.
