Okay, I'll try this again. I want to add an amp to my 06EG classic with stock radio and 2 ohm Hogtunes. I would prefer to use the HK's pre-amp and the new amp but this requires pre-out connections from the radio to connect to the amps low level inputs. The other way is to use the amps high level inputs and the HK radios speaker outputs. The only problem with this is the distortion would be more as the radios quality is not that great.
Does the HK radio have pre-out (low level) output?
If it does, does the preamp of the radio control the AVC or is that part of the radios amp?
Just got back from a 4 day ride, so sorry for the late reply....
The factory radio does not have low level pre outs. We could have made any size amp we wanted, but the amp we have is part of the rear speaker kit. The amp is meant to blend fronts and rears nicely when adding rear speakers. If you want it louder, no question--add more speakers! Sort of like throwing a penny off a tall building where it will only ever go "so" fast (terminal velocity), no matter how much power you put to one small pair of speakers, they will only play so loud--hence the kit with extra speakers.
The 2 ohm load HD/HK use is silly--but its the speaker/radio we get to deal with--it makes it hard to have an amp that will run the 2 ohm load without a bunch of extra current demand (BAD) as well as extra heat (Also BAD). HD has offered a solution to this but their amp is big$ and goes under the tourpak, making it non removeable.
I thi k if you ave specific questions--you should gimme a call at 705-719-6361 so we can figure the best solution for you, no matter if its our stuff or not..........PEZ
